On Ascension Day, a number of experiments in sustainable and smart mobility will start at the Transferium in Renesse. From that day on, Van Oeveren’s electric buses will be used again for the shuttle service to and from the beaches. And a start is made with the SD by Bike bicycle pilot, in collaboration with the local bicycle rental companies Beachweb Sports and FietsaanZee.
SD by Bike – easy, smart, digital & sustainable bicycle transport!
Discover Schouwen-Duiveland by bike from the Transferium? From Ascension Day it is possible to use one of the SD by Bike bicycles in a few simple steps. This pilot with smart locks is a collaboration between the bicycle rental companies Beachweb Sports, FietsaanZee, the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland and the Sustainable Mobility Zeeland Foundation. With smart locks from GoAbout, these bikes can be opened and used with an app. For example, you unlock the bike with your phone, close the lock with your phone in the meantime and return it at the end of your bike ride.
Download the GoAbout application for iOS or Android.
Electric bus transport to and from the beaches
Just like last year, (bus) transporter Van Oeveren provides the ‘after transport’ to and from Transferium and the beaches. Last year’s points for improvement have been worked on and the shuttle service will be restarted from Ascension Day in a fully sustainable manner. The existing lines are driven as much as possible with electric buses.
A charging plaza has also been realized at the Transferium on which 24 cars can be supplied with power at the same time. The chargers on the square are not only intended for residents, but also for tourists.
